Kindness For Our Migrant Friends
During the initial outbreak of COVID-19 among our migrant workers in Singapore, purpose-built dormitories were the first to receive aid from the government—regular COVID-testing and care packs that included masks and hand sanitizers.
However, essentials, especially food, were not as accessible to workers at smaller factory-converted dormitories.
After our first social justice panel From Empathy to Action with Dr. Goh Wei Leong, a collaboration with Into The Grey, we followed up with a second collaboration with ItsRainingRaincoats.
Our goal was to raise $500 for food and drinks for one dormitory. Thanks to the amazing generosity of those who attended the panel, and their friends—we flashed raised $1,210 on Give.Asia in less than 24 hours!
The additional funds allowed us to adopt two dormitories at Kaki Bukit and Pioneer Road. Volunteers came together to prepare 100 care packages and our friends at ItsRainingRaincoats delivered them.
